Some travel the world seeking adventure. Others journey in search of the good life.
At Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, experience the best of both.
For over 75 years, a visit to the ancient Angkor temples has been synonymous with a stay at Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor. Now sensitively restored, the hotel's renewed elegance and modernity complement the mystery and grandeur of Angkor as never before.
A destination unto itself - it is a residence of choice for connoisseurs visiting mystical Angkor.
Location
Located in the heart of Siem Reap, Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor is just eight kilometers from the famed Angkor Wat, and eight kilometers from Siem Reap International Airport. It is a simple 10 minute walk down a beautiful riverside boulevard, to the main market centre and other town attractions.
Siem Reap Town, located just south of the Angkor complex of temples, is Cambodia’s top tourist destination. The charming city with tree-lined boulevards, numerous local markets and incredible food is just minutes from the dozens of the renowned temples that are scattered throughout the large expanse of jungle and fields to the north.
The renewed interest in Angkor and the increased accessibility to the sites have spurred considerable development in the town of Siem Reap. However, this has not diminished its charm as one of the centres of Khmer culture and tradition.

Decorated with memorabilia and artefacts reminiscent of the Golden Age of Travel, the Angkorian ambience is completed with wooden floors, marble bathrooms and crafted four-poster beds. Rooms are available that look out onto the pool or onto the Royal Crusade for Independence Gardens - the hotel's 60,000 square metres of lush, landscaped French gardens.
Studio Junior Suites
Studio Junior Suites were created for guests on longer stays and who prefer a more residential feel. They are currently fitted with ergonomically designed workstations, full pantry facilities and superior stereo systems. Studio Junior Suites are located in the extended wing of the hotel, and both king-size bed and two full size beds are available.
Personality Junior Suites
Four specially created Personality Junior Suites take their direction from people who have been closely associated with Angkor. Prized memorabilia and original artefacts, the results of extensive research, are some of the well-loved items in the Personality Suites. The suites are named after well-known luminaries such as Henri Mouhot, John Thomson, Louis Delaporte and Henri Marchal. The four suites are located in the centre of the Main Building and look out onto a pool that is modelled after Angkorian royal bathing ponds. The suites also come with an original claw-footed bathtub, a private balcony and are all fitted with a king-size bed.
The Henri Mouhot Suite is named after a 19th century French naturalist who revealed the existence of Angkor to the world. He is the first person who possessed the vision and ability to convey to others the marvels he had seen and had the ability to excite the imagination of the people. Thus, it is Mouhot, rather than those that went before him, who is remembered and conferred the title of the ‘discoverer’ of Angkor. His travel journal describing Angkor was recovered from a forest near Luang Prabang, Laos, where Mouhot died prematurely at the age of 35 in 1861.
The Louis Delaporte Suite honours a member of the Mekong Expedition Commission who acquired a great admiration for Khmer art, to which he devoted his entire life. On a expedition to Cambodia he gathered some 70 pieces of Khmer art, which he took back to France and which now form a collection at the Guimet Museum in Paris.
The John Thomson Suite pays tribute to the first photographer to set his camera on the Angkor temples, having undertaken the arduous journey mostly on elephant back. He was also one of the earliest travelers to record his impressions of the ruins in a journal. John Thomson was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland and traveled to Asia in 1861. Several of his photos of Angkor were reproduced as engravings in his journal.
The Henri Marchal Suite was named after the man responsible for the first successful reconstruction of Banteay Srei. This monument was chosen because of its artistic interest and the certainty of finding virtually all of its stones in the vicinity. Henri Marchal lived in Cambodia for the most part of his life and was the first to commence clearing the jungle around Angkor Wat after his arrival in 1906. He was responsible for directing the conservation efforts around the temples. He died 2 months before the Khmer Rouge occupied Angkor Wat in 1970 in Siem Reap.
Cabana Suites
The newly renovated Cabana Suites measures 70-square meters each. The suites are decorated in French-Indochina style while retaining the hotel's original character and charm by using local accents, such as custom-made Cambodian linens and silks, rich drapery and leather furnishings. The sense of luxury extends seamlessly to the bathrooms, with separate showers and claw-footed baths. Each suite also features wireless internet access and high-tech entertainment modules.
All Cabana Suites have generously-sized private terraces with day beds and chaise loungers and provide easy access to the Kingdom’s largest pool, which replicates the ancient bathing pools of the Khmer kings at Phimeanakas. From the terraces, residents can enjoy views of the hotel’s exotic gardens, lush with tropical trees and flowers
Two-Bedroom Villa Suites
The two Villa Suites have stylish resort decor and are ideal for residents who prefer more space and privacy. Villa Uma and Villa Kama are located in the hotel's inner gardens and offer an uninterrupted view of the swimming pool. Each villa has one master bedroom with a king-size four-poster bed, one bedroom with two twin beds and a spacious living room and dining area. All three rooms are beautifully decorated with original Angkorian artefacts, antique furniture, Persian-style carpets and wooden floors. The two en suite bathrooms have an original claw-footed bathtub and separate shower unit; a third bathroom is available in the living area. Furnished in comfort and luxury, each villa has full pantry facilities and a private wine cellar.
